One year down, a bazillion more to go!

nate and i reached the one year mark! it came so quickly! this year many exciting things have happened to us. nate has been busy, busy, busy. nate started school at the U. he is doing really well. i am so proud of him. he has created his nonprofit-the green tee project. he has gotten involved with a club called tech titans. he also got invited to join the triathlon team at the U. i am just so proud of all his accomplishments. he is going to make a wonderful dr someday!

i really cant believe its been a year! a year ago today i married my best friend in the birmingham temple. it was the greatest day we have had so far! i love that natimus more than anything! everyone says that the first year is the hardest-but we have been so blessed. its been the best year of our lives.

Dog Walk Gone BAD!!

Nate and I decided that Sunday we should take our dogs on an adventure. We found a park that has a trail that dogs can go and dogs are allowed to be off leash. We were really excited. We got there and the dogs were so excited. The trail follows a creek. Our dogs LOVE water. They swim anywhere. So, needless to say, they were stoked. At first sight of the water, they were gone!

At the end of the trail we decided to just let the pups play for a minute. Nate took a minute to call his mom back. I decided to sit on a perfect log that was right near the stream. WORST CHOICE EVER. After only sitting for a minute or so, I remember hearing Nate say "BEES!?" He hung up the phone quickly with his mother. I began to run. There were bees all over me! Even in my shirt. I probably ran for like 40 yards, stopped freaking out for a sec, only to realize there were still bees chasing me!! I started running again and screaming this time, i was SO FREAKED OUT! I slowed down again, only to realize there was still a bee in my shirt. AH! I began to realize I had been stung several times. I got stung twice under my chin and on my left arm. I also got stung right where my forehead stops and my hair starts. It hurt so bad, so I had Nate check it out. The freaking stinger from that dang bee was still in my head. Worst Dog Walking Ever.
Kinda random but about a week ago someone was talking about bees, and i though to myself "i forgot what it feels like to get stung by a bee.." NOT ANYMORE.
Nate did not get stung, but I am pretty sure that Scout and Grits got stung. They were rolling around in the grass. Who knows, I felt SO BAD.

We decided to go home after this great ordeal. On the way out we passed a dam. Scout wanted to get in so bad he jumped off the dam to the part below. That dog is freaking crazy!

Almost back to the car. While I was running, I dropped Grits' leash, so we had to hold her the last bit of the way when it turns back into an on leash park. Oh well, hopefully our next outing will be better than this. It should not be too hard :)

Lake Powell with my pal

Rose and I were able to go to Lake Powell about 2 weeks ago. It was really fun! We had a blast. The only sad part was that Nate was unable to come with us. Anyway, here are a few pictures! Enjoy!

a year ago today

A year ago today Nate proposed to me on the grounds of the Birmingham Alabama temple. I could not have been happier to say yes. I had known for a while that I was going to marry him, but I did not know he even had a ring the day he proposed. Here are a few pictures that we took that night we got engaged. Time sure does fly when you are having fun!

today is my best friends birthday! nate is by far the most amazing person i know. i am so glad that he came into my life. he is so important to me. today is his birthday! I love you Nate! this is my tribute to him.

Grits Nelson

WELCOME GRITS!

So, i was helping a friend find a puppy the other day on Craigslist and we found a woman nearby that had a new litter. She sent us a few pictures. We decided to go to her home that evening so that we could check out the pups-with no intention of buying one.

Nate and I have been talking about getting another dog because Scout needs companionship. We didn't think it would happen this soon, but she found us. Sorta :)

As soon as we saw the puppies I knew we were gonna take one home. They were just too cute!

Spring Break!

Things are so good!! We went on an extended vacation for sping break! The first weekend we went to California with our friends. The beach and Magic Mountain were so fun! The second weekend, we went down to St. George to stay with my family. We had a really good time. We took Scout down with us. We went mountain biking. We attempted to go rock climbing, but got in way above our heads with a really hard climb. So we went mountain biking some more. Over all, we biked about 20 miles in 2 days! It was so awesome because Scout came on the trails with us! He loved it! He ran at a steady pace and enjoyed the freedom of being in the desert. Towards the end of the weekend, Scout realized that if he got in front of Nate(who was in front) that he could set the pace. We totally wore him out! Over all it was a really good spring break! We are so blessed!

Scout Nelson!

this is our little boy scout. we got him right after christmas. nate "gave" him to me for a christmas present. i only say "gave" because he really only gave me puppy food. we couldnt get scout until we got back to utah several days after christmas. we found scout on KSL at an animal shelter in down in payson. he had broken one of his back legs and his previous owners couldnt afford to fix him. so, they gave him up to this animal shelter. boy, are we sure lucky to have this little guy in our life. at first, he was difficult. especially to potty train. we would put him outside to go number 2 and he would hold it, come back inside, and go sneak away to poop. crate training was also hard. several nights of him just whining to have someone, anyone, let him out. the thing that changed it all was this toy we bought for him at petsmart. its called a Kong. i highly recommend them for anyone who has a dog. chewer or not. they are incredible. you put treats or peanut butter in them and your dog will chew it for hours. this great toy has made our life so much easier.

scout has since mellowed out a bit. he loves to go in the car. he will run out to the car and just sit and wait. he just simply loves being in the car. as you can tell by this picture of him. we took him snow shoeing a few weekends ago. he was so full of energy when we first went. after at least 3 hours of hiking, he was finally tired. he layed across the entire back seat and slept all the way home. we also took him to mystic hot springs with us this weekend. he meet several other dogs there and was just so happy. all the way home, he slept. we sure do love wearing that pup out. we sleep better. and so does he.

his best friend in the whole wide world though is charley valentine. at first little charley was too playful for scout, now they are inseparable.

we love scout. he is the best dog in the world(no offense). he fits well in our life and we look forward to many years of adventure and laughter with this little(for now) pup.

so, i was not going to post these pictures, but megan was brave enough to post her baby picture, so i guess i will be too! i found this website, where i can take a picture of me and nate and it will tell us what our babies will look like. i did it, not really nate, and this is what we came up with :)

10 Things

So, me dear friend Courtney tagged us, now i get to write 10 things about the Nelsons :) then i get to tag 4 people.

1. We love football. BYU and Alabama football in particular. We will do anything to even catch the last 5 minutes of a game(usually we watch the entire thing from pregame to interviews afterwards)
2. We have the most adorable puppy named Scout. We will post pictures soon. He really is just as cute as i say.
3. We want another lab. Maybe a yellow lab. A girl. We will name her Grits.
4. Family is the most important thing in the world to us. We love our family.
5. We both worked on an archaeological excavation this past summer. It rocked!!
6. Our birthdays are literally 8 hours apart. Nate was born on June 19, 1987 in the evening! I was born on June 20, 1987 in the morning. Awesome huh!?
7. We live for adventure.
8. As of right this second, we both dont really know what we want to be when we grow up.
9. Our new(ish) cars name is A-Sasha. Named after Nates old jeep Sasha. Since our car is Japanese, we though it appropriate.
10. Ever since we have known each other, we have not gotten into an argument(we gotta keep our fingers crossed it stays that way!)

a day in park city!

we finally used our free lift tickets from our warren miller film! we spent the day with dan and britten at the canyons. it was pretty sweet. the weather was warm, not too many people. and really good company! we got up a little later than we wanted to but, thats pretty typical for the nelsons :) here are a few pictures from today!this was pretty much all day for me...

back to school

Nate started back to school at the University of Utah on January 11th. He is loving being at the U. He is taking a few generals and a few classes he needs to get for the ever elusive bachelor degree in meterology! He really loves to take tracks to school everyday(alright, so maybe not EVERYday!) He is taking advantage of some seminars offered on campus that help him to better understand the weather. That just may be his favorite part of the week!

I recently returned to school too. I am going to school to get a degree in American Sign Language intrepreting. Things are going well. I am in two anthropology classes, Math 1010 and a computer class! School has been an interesting experience. It is a huge adjustment. I like being married and in school though. There is much more motivation for doing well! There is only one problem. PARKING. I hate parking on campus. Its awful!

Other than that, things in the Nelson basement are great! We are excited for this next semester!
